Many celebrities have shown their support towards different ethnic and religious minorities since Donald Trump became the next president of the United States of America. His idea of a Muslim registry in particular sparked a lot of anger with many people, including the next famous people who are using their platforms to raise their voice against this idea.
- Alicia Keys
During the Women’s March, Alicia Keys gave a speech and sang about women’s rights, discrimination and racism. Part of her speech included: “No hate, no bigotry, no Muslim registry.”
2. Mayim Bialik
Famous for her role as Amy Farrah Fowler in The Big Bang Theory, actress Mayim Bialik tweeted that she would register as a Muslim if this idea of a registry would actually be realized.

3. Katy Perry
Katy Perry is helping to fund an anti-Muslim registry campaign and is using her influencer status to create awareness about this topic. The campaign included a video that tells the story of Japanese citizens in America who were incarcerated during WWII.
4. Madeleine Albright
Former US Secretary of State Madeleine Albright has vowed to register as Muslim if Donald Trump creates this database of Muslim Americans. “I was raised Catholic, became Episcopalian & found out later my family was Jewish,” Ms Albright tweeted on Wednesday. Ms Albright was the first woman to be Secretary of State. She was born in Prague and fled the Hitler regime as a child.

Speaking at the Women’s March on Washington, women’s rights campaigner Gloria Steinem said: “If you try to make Muslims register, we will all register as Muslim. So don’t try to divide us.”
6. Trevor Noah
Host of The Daily Show Trevor Noah made his stands on a Muslim registry very clear in an episode of the show in November. “We need to stand in solidarity with Muslim people who are being targeted by Donald Trump,” he said. “If they start registering Muslims in America, we all register as Muslims.”
Let’s hope it never comes to that!
