Today I am going to share with you Some dua for studying and Dua for Success in Exam.

1)Define Your purpose for studying

Passing or getting good marks is not success. Success is what you achieve with the Knowledge. Our  purpose of Studying Should be to acquire Knowledge so that We can benefit ourself and Others from Our Knowledge.

“O Allah, I seek refuge in You from knowledge which does not benefit, from a heart that does not entertain the fear (of Allah), from a soul that is not satisfied and the supplication that is not answered.”

In a hadith recorded in Saheeh Muslim, Zaid bin Alqam

2)Prepare for your Task

Everytime I sat to Prepare my lesson,I asked refuge from shaitan and started my Study in the Name of Allah.

Dua before studying:

Auzubillahi Minash Shaitan ir Rajeem.

Bismillah ir Rahman ir Rahim.

English translation : I seek refuge in Allah from the Accursed Satan.

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful

3)Make a Timetable

Outline your Plan. You need to Know how will you accomplish your target.Define your hours of Studying,Subject and Chapters and do not make this Timetable unrealistic .Analyse  your Potential and Work on It.I was very poor at following my timetable but One thing I sticked at was completing the task of that day. I studied Physics at the time of chemistry and biology at the time of maths, and was not harsh at myself.I studied for myself  and gave myself a thumbs up for every mission I accomplished.

Best Time and Place to Study :Tips

Khatib Al-Baghdadi (rahimahullah) has mentioned the following in his book: “Al-Faqih wal-Mutafaqqih” “The best time for memorizing is the time of sehri (early dawn), thereafter the time of mid-day.The mornings are better for memorizing than the evenings, and on the whole the night is better than the day.”He further states: “And the best of places for memorizing are those rooms which are above ground level and all such places where there are no distractions. It is better that one abstains from places of greenery, riverbanks and the road side because such places naturally distract the mind.

Merit Tips : Make a Specific Place of Study .This improves concentration.

Actions to Increase Memorization Power

Imam Bukhari (rahimahullah) was once asked as to what was most beneficial for increasing the memory, he replied: True greed for knowledge, and Persistent mutala’ah (studying).

Imam Shafi’ie (rahimahullah) had prescribed the following four methods:

1) The use of a Miswak.

2)Sitting in the company of the ‘Ulama (Scholars).

3)Sitting in the company of the Pious.

4)Abandoning futile talk.

Merit tips : Make Good Notes and Practice by Writing .

Tips: Food from Sunnah to Increase Memory

Our Dear Prophet, Muhammad SAW has advised us to include some foods in our diet . Today the Scientific research back up our Sunnah of food and experiments reveals that these food do helps in increasing Memory and concentration.

4)Dua For studying-Dua Rabbi zidni ilma

Whenever you want to start studying ,Start with this Dua-.Rabbi zidni ilma. This is a very Powerful dua for studying and It is Short and easy too.And It is a Quranic Dua and has been mentioned in Surah Taha chapter 20,verse 114.

Rabbi zidnee ‘ilman

“O my Lord, increase me in knowledge!”

and then the Dua : Rabbishrah lee sadree Wayassir lee amree Wahlul ‘uqdatan min lisanee Yafqahoo qawlee

“O my Sustainer! Open up my heart and make my task easy for me, and loosen the knot from my tongue so that they might fully understand my speech.” (Quran-20:25-28)

Color Code your notes

Colour co-ordinate your exam subjects with specific colours.

For example, file history exam notes in purple, English exam notes in orange and maths exam notes in yellow. Then place them all into one ring-binder folder, to easily locate your notes in record-breaking speed when revising before the exam.

5)Hard Work

Besides making dua for sucess in exam, you need to work hard .Hard Work is not studying  for 24 hours.Quality wins Over Quality.Read 3 hours a day but use that 3 hours to full.Give your full Concentration. That hour after Fajr and Maghrib is the best time to Study and retain.During my graduation,I studied from 4 am to 9 am and no body saw me ever saw me studying and they were always Surprised when I used to get the top Marks. So,friends Plan your Work and yes, every body has their Own “Super hour”.Analyse your “Super Studying hour” by calculating which time of the day you feel most awake and ready to do an Interesting thing.

Draw charts and diagram

Represent your main points with diagrams and illustrations.

Highlight the main points of a text or essay with illustrations and diagrams, to explain tough concepts, break down texts, keep your brain engaged and inspire creativity in you when approaching exam time.

6)Read a Short Dua Before studying and Before Exams

Do You forget what you study ?I Would like to Share with You a Dua  which can help you retain what you have Studied and can help you Concentrate better:

“Salla-l-laahu alaa Muhammad wa aal-e Muhammad. Allahumma inni as’aluka yaa mudhakkira-l khayr wa faa’ilahu wa-l-aamimira bihi dhakir-ni maa ansaani-hi-shaytan.”

“Blessings of god be upon Muhammad and his progeny. O god, I ask you, the one who mentions goodness and actualizes it and commands it, remind me of that which the shaytan makes me forget.”

7) Dua to Prepare for Tough Subjects;Dua while reading something difficult.

Sometimes We really have tough time Understanding Some Subjects. Are You Weak at Maths,Physics or do you find Something Very Difficult. Here is a Powerful Dua :

“Allahumma la sahla illama ja-‘altahu sahla anta taj ‘alu al hazana eza ma shi’ta sahal.”

“Oh Allah! Nothing is easy except what you have made easy. If you wish, you can make the difficult easy.”

8)Dua for Sucess in Exam ,Viva and Interview

This is the Dua Which my Mother made Us read Often. This Dua is from Surah Taha (Chapter 20), verses 25-28,

”O my Lord ! open my chest for me and make my task easy for me and make loose the knot from my tongue so that they understand my speech” surah Taaha verse 25-28

Dua to Increase Memory and recall forgotten things :

In the name of Allah the most kind the most merciful.Glory be to Him who does not treat the citizens of His kingdom unjustly.Glory be to Him who does not let the torment and pain come suddenly upon mankind.Glory be to the compassionate the merciful.O Allah, fill my heart with true enlightenment, wisdom, understanding and knowledge.Surely you are able to do all things. This Dua is recommended to be read after every Obligatory Salah.

Dua for studying to Suppress Anxiety and Fear of exams:

It is normal to feel a little bit of anxiety during exams and some of us get more anxious .They develop frustration, fear, and anxiety in exams, which may adversely affect their performance. It is recommended to  Recite this dua, reported by Anas (may Allah be pleased with him), that the Prophet (pbuh) used to say when something upset him.

Sheikh Alfasy Recommends 3 Dua from Quran that can help Us in seeking Knowledge. These are :

  • Surah Taha 25-28: The Dua Which we mentioned to read in Viva and Interview:”O my Lord ! open my chest for me and make my task easy for me and make loose the knot from my tongue so that they understand my speech” surah Taaha verse 25-28
  • Surah Taha 114:The dua which we mentioned as Dua for studying:Rabbi zidnee ‘ilman
  • As shura:83-85 :
    1. Rabbi hab lee hukmanw wa alhiqnee bis saaliheen
    2. Waj’al lee lisaana sidqin fil aakhireen
    3. Waj’alnee minw warasati Jannnatin Na’eem

Sleep Well to increase the ability to concentrate.

We all know how important sleep is, don’t we? Even if you’ve managed to pull some successful study all-nighters before, do not rely on them. Without at least seven hours a sleep a night, your brain doesn’t function to its full capacity.

Poor sleep adds to your stress levels along with decreasing your ability to concentrate.

Avoid this unnecessary stress and last minute panic and re-charge your brain like you would a set of batteries the night before your big test.

Take Deep breath

It’s only an exam after all. Give it your best and realize no matter what the outcome of the exam is, it’s not the end of the world. Remember, at the end of the day your health is much more important than any exam grade.
