London’s hate crimes against Muslims jumps to 70%

London, (IINA) – The number of hate crimes against Muslims in London has risen by 70 percent in a year, and women who wear veils are particularly targeted.
Metropolitan Police statistics showed that 816 Islamophobic offences were reported, compared to 478 offences from the previous 12 months, the number rose by 70.7 percent.
According to The Guardian, Fiyaz Mughal, from “Tell Mama”, an organization that monitors Islamophobic incidents, said that about 60% of victims were women who wear the hijab.
In the same context, a Metropolitan Police official called on Muslims to report any hate crimes against them so that police can pursue the right action against the offenders.
