Non-Muslim Boxing Champ Seen Praying in Dubai Mosque
DUBAI – Heavyweight boxing champion Anthony Joshua was seen praying at a mosque in Dubai in a photo on Instagram on Wednesday, January 11.
Latif, a fitness trainer who shared the photo, wrote on Instagram, “The best experience so far to see my brothers follow me in prayers for the 1st time. May Allah accept there prayers and guide them ameen.”
Joshua, who is not a Muslim yet, is a British professional boxer who has held the IBF heavyweight title since 2016, having previously held the British and Commonwealth heavyweight titles.
Heis the second British boxer, after James DeGale, to win both a gold medal at the Olympics and a world title by a major professional sanctioning body, as well as being the first British heavyweight to do so.
He is also the second boxer, after Joe Frazier, to win a world heavyweight title whilst still reigning as Olympic champion at the top weight.
