The negative news is all around us. Scrolling our newsfeeds, we can’t scroll more than a couple of posts and there is more bad news. Our co-workers, our neighbors, friends and family are all talking about the changes that President Donald Trump is bringing to our great country of United States of America.
Yes, there are some really dark periods ahead for Muslims. Especially the refugees and immigrants that are getting stuck in limbo in airports currently because of this new Executive Action. I sign all the petitions, share their hurt and frustrations and make dua’a daily for them. But this article is about the other side. The positives.
We are American Muslims. Alhamdulillah that God chose us to become Muslims firstly! Secondly, when God loves us, He tests us.
The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said:
“If Allah loves a people, then he afflicts them with trials. Whoever is patient has the reward of patience, and whoever is impatient has the fault of impatience.”
Allah the Almighty loves us. He knows exactly the battles we are facing. He has absolute knowledge of President Trump and his dealings. As a believer, I firmly trust that Allah is in control.
Let’s look at a few blessings that have happened recently:
Islam and Muslims have been in the News more and more everyday and now, Alhamdulillah, it’s not all bad news. With the executive decision to ban refugees and Muslims from some Muslim countries. We are hearing stories of famous people that can no longer get in. People are shocked…’I didn’t know he was a Muslim, he’s such a nice guy’.
Silicon Valley has been hurt by this new move from Trump. Some of their best and brightest engineers and scientists came from these countries. So we have people like Google CEO Sundar Pichai, Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg, Apple CEO Tim Cook and many more fighting this ban. When these people speak, others listen. They are sharing stories of how Muslims are great workers and a vital part of America.
Not just the U.S but worldwide we are seeing a huge boom of Unity. The day after Trump was inaugurated as President, there was approximately 1 million people worldwide of all religions and races that stood and protested his bigotry and hate speech.
Hours after the executive order was signed to ban ‘7 Muslim countries’, huge numbers of people have showed up in airports across the USA to show discontent with Trump.
Everyday we are hearing of people going to their communities Muslim areas and mosque and showing signs of solidarity with them. People from all religions or no religions are standing up to the bully and fighting with the oppressed. This is what makes America great.
